Dr. Sean Kruger is joining the WAVE Lab as a visiting researcher through the African Futures Research Leadership Program (2026–2027), hosted at Michigan State University. He is a Senior Lecturer based at the University of Pretoria (UP) whose work focuses on digital transformation, artificial intelligence adoption, and future of work readiness in emerging economies. His research project at MSU will look to develop a Human–AI Collaboration Readiness Model that assesses digital capability, skeptical intelligence, governance awareness, and institutional enabling conditions required for responsible AI adoption. The project combines conceptual research with the development of a diagnostic assessment instrument and interactive interface designed to evaluate readiness for AI mediated work environments across students, graduates, and organizational contexts. The work aims to support more inclusive digital futures by helping education systems and organizations better prepare individuals for human–AI collaboration.
